A trackback is like a "Reference" or "Bibliography" that you might find in a book.  Below is some more information and what Trackbacks are used for in MSN Spaces and how to make one.

 

Do you like the information or a story or any content of a  Blog entry that you have seen on someone else's Space? And would like to add it to your MSN Space?

 

Click the "Blog it" Tab at the bottom of the blog entry that you would like to add to your space, The page will refresh to a new blog entry in your MSN Space it will already have the content that was in the original blog of the individual whose work and words you Blogged it from with the 'Blog it' button.

 

 

Now the individual whose work it was originally will probably wont mind you taking his work if you where to make a reference to him/her in the blog about where the contents origin is from.  This can be done with the 'blog it' button automatically, by adding a trackback or the URL of the orignial owner to the blog when published in your own space.  The trackback is completly optional when publishing your blog entry and can be removed by simply deleting it before publishing your entry.  Though personally I think its a nice way of letting the original owner that you like their work or information that they have made avalible on their space.

 

 

The Trackback or URL of the original owner will not show up on your new entry when published, however the original owner of the work you have published will be notified in his "Recent trackbacks" list. In a simular way to how your new comments or new blog entries are listed  now for you to check when viewing your MSN Space in Edit mode.
